BGB chief blames both sides for border killing

A day after terming the border killing unacceptable, the director general of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Saturday blamed both Bangladeshi nationals and India's Border Security Force (BSF) personnel for the unwanted deaths of civilians along the border.

Major General Aziz Ahmed also said the incidents of killing of Bangladeshi nationals might not have happaned, had the Bangladeshis not crossed the border illegally.

"It takes two to make a quarrel. The incidents would have been avoided, if our nationals did not cross the border illegally," BGB chief said at a press briefing in Shaheed Colonel Gulzar auditorium in Dinajpur BGB sector.

He also said "The BSF is not following international rules (in border management). We also don't want any border killing."

General Aziz mentioned that the BGB always raised strong protest at such incidents.

He maintained that the Bangladesh side always spoke at high level meetings, including at prime ministers' level, in favour of bringing down the border killing to zero.

The BGB also acknowledged that there has been tense situation prevailing along the border.
