BJKS secy gen sent to jail

A Dhaka court on Saturday sent Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (BJKS) secretary general Mozammel Haque Chowdhury to jail after rejecting his remand prayer in a case filed over extortion, reports UNB.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Golam Nabi passed the order after Bazlur Rahman, sub-inspector of Mirpur model police station and investigation officer of the case, produced Mozammel before the court with a fresh five-day remand prayer after ending of a one-day remand.

It is said in the new remand prayer that important information was found from the accused during the previous one-day remand.

Earlier on Thursday, police arrested Mozammel from his Sanarpar house in an extortion case was filed with Mirpur model police station.

Later in the day, Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Md Mazaharul Haque placed Mozammel on one-day remand after he was produced before it seeking seven-day remand.
