BNP leader Tipu comes under attack
BNP's assistant office secretary Taiful Islam Tipu came under attack by a group of young men on the second floor of the party's Nayapaltan central office on Tuesday.
BNP office staff said Tipu was carrying out party’s organisational activities sitting on the second floor’s office room around 10:00am.
At one stage, they said, 10-12 young men stormed into the office room and started beating Tipu, leaving him injured. The fled the scene hurriedly.
Contacted, Tipu said he has no idea why he was attacked as he has no enmity with anybody.
He also said he could not recognise the attackers.
Earlier on 14 June, BNP's assistant organising secretary and Jubo Dal senior vice president Addus Salam Azad also came under similar attack by another group of youths inside the BNP’s headquarters.
On 19 May, Abdus Salam Azad was made BNP executive committee's one of the assistant organising secretaries while Taiful Islam Tipu one of the assistant office secretaries.
Meanwhile, BNP spokesman Asaduzzaman Ripon condemned the attack on Tipu.
In a statement, he said, “It’s a matter of concern that miscreants have attacked our two leaders inside our party headquarters within months.”
Ripon demanded the government identify the attackers and mete out exemplary punishment to them.
He said their party will form a probe team to look into the incident.
