BNP picks Tabith for DNCC, Ishraque for DSCC

BNP on Saturday picked Tabith Awal as its mayoral candidate for the upcoming election to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) while Ishraque Hossain for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

The party finalised the candidates after taking interview of the interested contestants at party’s Gulshan office.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said they have selected the candidates based on their popularity among youth.

He made the announcement following the interview.

Tabith Awal, a BNP executive member, also contested the DNCC election in 2015.

Ishraque Hossain is a member of BNP, and son of former mayor of undivided Dhaka city Sadeque Hossain Khoka.

The Dhaka city corporation election is scheduled to be held on 30 January.
