Bangladesh Navy gets new chief

Bangladesh coast guard (BCG) director general rear admiral AMMM Aurangzeb Chowdhury has been appointed as the new Chief of Naval Staff, reports UNB.

The defense ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday.

According to the notification, the appointment will come into effect in the afternoon of 26 January when rear admiral AMMM Aurangzeb Chowdhury will be promoted to the rank of vice admiral.

He has been appointed as the Navy chief for one and half years until 25 July, 2020.

Aurangzeb Chowdhury will replace incumbent Chief of Naval Staff admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed who is scheduled to go on retirement on 26 January.
