Bangladeshi ambassador in Lebanon called back
Bangladeshi ambassador in Lebanon has been called back to Dhaka, confirmed a foreign ministry senior official on Saturday.
He said the ambassador was asked to return within shortest possible time.
"Several complaints, including mismanagement in embassy, have prompted the decision to call back AFM Gousal Azam Sarker," said the official.
He said, "a good many complaints were lodged against the ambassador and his wife in recent times, namely financial misappropriation. There is a recent allegation that he had forcefully kept a Bangladeshi young man captive inside the embassy."
The official added that Gousal Azam had been asked to handover the charges to foreign ministry's West Asia Wing director general Md Nazrul Islam.
