Bangladeshi girl receives The Diana Award

Shomy Hasan Chowdhury from Bangladesh has been presented with The Legacy Award for her work and advocacy in ensuring clean water and sanitation for all.
A press statement said Shomy Hasan co-founded the organization “Awareness 360” through which she has benefitted over 70,000 people in raising awareness on WASH.
Shomy received The Legacy Award from Earl Spencer, Princess Diana’s brother in November at a award ceremony in London, the UK.
Earlier in the day Shomy along with the twenty other recipients met with Prince William, Duke of Cambridge at Kensington Palace where he congratulated the winners and spoke to them about their work that led them to receive the award, it added.

After receiving the award, Shomy said, “Carrying a title on Princess Diana’s name is a huge honour and I will try my best to continue her legacy.”
The Legacy Award and development programme, which included a three-day residential experience, is sponsored by Gilead Sciences. This year marks the 20th Anniversary year of the charity, The Diana Award.
