Bangladeshis face ‘exploitation, abuse’ in Fiji
Bangladesh expatriates in Suva, the capital of Fiji, have come forward with another case of exploitation and abuses at their work places, reports FBC News.
The Fijian media outlet said four Bangladesh nationals working for a local company in Suva are ‘crying for justice and they’re calling for an end to their misery.’
In an exclusive interview, Ronald Kumar – who is now taking care of the foreigners – told FBC News about ordeal of the Bangladeshis.
“We are not dealing with static materials on the shelf they don’t have an expiry date, they have families, what if this happens to my brothers and sisters, so we need to take care of them,” Kumar was quoted to have said.
“They are vulnerable and we can do anything, no, no way,” he was also quoted to have said.
Kumar also told the FBC News that they complained to their employer and threatened to take the matter to the attorney general and the reply from their employer was unacceptable.
The report however said the police have confirmed they’re investigating the allegations of assault made by these foreign nationals and the report will be sent to the DPP’s Office.
