The case was filed by Md Al Sadiq, former mass education secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League's Dhaka University unit.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police's media wing said a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested Fahim from the Bdjobs office in the morning.
The case statement reads, "Fahim Mashroor posted a caricature of the prime minister and provocative and false information on his Facebook profile. Such lies on social media has created anarchy and political unrest and demolished the image of the government."
Sadiq, who made eight allegations in the statement, said, "It took some time to submit the case statement as I had to discuss it with the central leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). I am now requesting legal actions based on the issues mentioned."
