Police tightened security around the Chittagong court on Tuesday after an assistant public prosecutor received a phone call stating that the building would be bombed.

The person who gave the threat over phone introduced himself as a member of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB), confirmed the police.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) assistant commissioner (prosecution) Nirmalendu Bikash Chakrabarty said Assistant Public Prosecutor Manash Das received the phone call from an unknown number at about 9:00am.

The unidentified man threatened to bomb the court building, he added.

About 100 additional policemen were deployed on the court premises at about 10:00am.

Nirmolendu Bikash said they were checking everyone crossing or entering into the court building.

Police is still investigating.
