Committee to probe allegation against RAB

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Monday formed an investigation committee to verify the allegation against RAB about its involvement in seven murder-abduction case of Narayanganj.

RAB law and media branch director colonel Ziaul Ahsan told Prothom Alo that a four-member probe committee headed by RAB additional director general Aftab Uddin Ahmed has been formed in this connection. 

Earlier on Sunday at a briefing, Shahidul Islam, father-in-law of Narayanganj city councillor Nazrul Islam, blamed RAB for the killing and abduction of Nazrul Islam and other six people.

Shahidul Islam said it was a contract-killing incident and the RAB-11 commanding officer (CO) and other officials were paid a total of Tk six crore to kill Nazrul Islam, also a panel mayor of the city.

Shahidul also claimed that a group of labourers witnessed the abduction of Nazrul and six others on 27 April and they later said that Nazrul and his companions were picked up in a microbus inscribed with RAB 11.
