A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered the investigation officer to interrogate BNP leader Nipun Roy Chowdhury and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Arifa Sultana Ruma at the jail gate in a case filed over the 14 November Naya Paltan clash, reports UNB.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Tofazzal Hossain passed the order after the investigation officer of the case produced the two before the court and sought a seven-day remand.

The court also rejected the bail petitions of the accused.

On 15 November, detectives detained Nipun Roy Chowdhury from the city’s Kakrail area while Ruma was arrested on the same day from the High Court area.

On 14 November, at least 50 people, including 23 policemen, were injured in a clash between the BNP leaders and activists and law enforcers in front of the party’s Naya Paltan central office on the third day of its nomination-paper sale.

Three cases were filed with Paltan police station over the clash. Nipun Roy was made accused in all the cases.
