Devotees throng Hossainpur for Ashtami Snan

Thousands of Hindu devotees thronged the banks of old Brahmaputra river in Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj on the occasion of Ashtami Snan (holy bath) on Tuesday.

Organised by the Hossainpur puja udjapan parishad, thousands of devotes from 13 upazilas in the district including some places of nearby Mymensingh and Narsingdi district also took part in the holy bathing festival from Tuesday early hours to 2:00pm. A fair was also held by the river.

Local administration took additional security measures, said Pradip Kumar Sarkar, general secretary of upazila puja udjapan parishad. Among others present were UNO Abdullah Al Mamun, additional police super Md Jamal Uddin, upazila AL acting president Jahirul Islam Nuru, general secretary Shah Mahbubul Haque and acting upazila chairman Selina Sarwar.
