Dhaka-Agartala bus service starts

The trial bus service on Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala route started from Salt Lake International Bus Terminal in Kolkata on Monday morning.
The bus, starting at 9:30am, is scheduled to reach Agartala on Tuesday morning after touching Dhaka.
A 10-member delegation led by inspector general (IG) of West Bengal police (border) Akhil Roy is coming in the bus.
The bus will operate three days a week. It will leave Kolkata on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and will leave Agartala on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Abani Ghosh, owner of Kolkata Shyamoli service, told Prothom Alo that the regular bus service on the route will start on 6 June. One way fare will be Rs 2,000.
The distance between Kolkata and Agartala is 1,650 kilometers which will be reduced to only 513 kilometers once the bus service starts.
Shyamoli bus service will run the service from Kolkata under West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (WBSTC) while Shymoli Paribahan will run the service from Dhaka under Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC).
