Eng Mustafiz dies in US

Former executive engineer of the Bangladesh Water Development Board, Mustafizur Rahman, breathed his last on 17 June at a hospital in Louisiana of the US. He was 69.

His family members said he was suffering from lung cancer for the past two years.

He has left behind his wife Fahmida Nilufar, also an engineer, two daughters, two brothers, a sister and a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers.

Mustafizur Rahman graduated in mechanical engineering from Peshawar University.

After serving the Bangladesh Water Development Board, he later served in senior posts in the governments of Iraq and Kuwait.

He had last been teaching at California University.

As a student he had been involved in left-wing politics and had several publications to his name on this ideology.

He hailed from Rajarampur of Senbagh in Noakhali district.
