English spelling of 5 districts changed

The government on Monday made changes in the English spelling of five districts in the country.

The decision was taken at a meeting of National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reorganisation. Prime minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting.

As per the government decision, from now on Chittagong would be called as Chattogram, Barisal would be Barishal, Comilla would be Cumilla, Jessore would be Jashore and Bogra would be Bogura.

Secretary (co-ordination and reforms) at the cabinet division NM Ziaul Alam informed journalists about the changes after the meeting.
