Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday asked the authorities to “free poet and writer Farhad Mazhar immediately” and warned that the government would have to otherwise bear the liability for his disappearance.

Also former prime minister, Khaleda in a tweet message this evening also alleged that the abduction of the noted columnist is an ugly act of the rulers.

“Farhad Mazhar must be freed right now or else the government must bear all liability for his disappearance. This is another ugly act of the rulers,” read the tweet message.

Poet, essayist, political analyst and rights defender Farhad Mazhar was abducted from his Adabar residence early Monday, alleged his family.
