Female student 'drowns' in Dhanmondi lake

A female student of an English medium school was reportedly drowned at Dhanmondi Lake in the capital on Saturday night.

The deceased is Mosharraf Khandakar Emi, 17, daughter of a certain Liakat Hossain Litu, and an "A" level student of Europe Standard School, reports UNB.

She was a resident of Kaderabad area in Mohammadpur.

“I was sitting by the lake around 11:00pm and suddenly heard sound in the water. We saw someone jumped into water. We also jumped into the lake, rescued her and took to Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital,” witness Abdul Ali said.

Later, Emi’s relatives shifted her to emergency section of Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) where duty doctor declared her dead.

DMCH police outpost sub-inspector Md Bacchu Mia said the body was sent to the morgue for an autopsy.
