French backpacker missing since Jan, last seen in Gazipur

The family of backpacker and cyclist Arthur Ange of France, who recently visited Bangladesh as part of his multination tour, is in deep anxiety as he remained missing.

"We're deeply worried. Can you help us? Maybe somebody met him. Sharing massively, messages could reach somebody who met him recently and help orientate the search," reads a web post by his family seeking information through email.

The 30-yerar-old backpacker with brown eyes and chestnut-red hair had his last contact from Dhaka on 26 January.

"Arthur Ange travels alone, he is a real backpacker, likes to meet people and live with them for a while. Then he is on the road again, looking for other adventures, he likes to discover new people and culture," Antonin Sabot, friend of the missing Ange and journalist at the French Daily 'Le Monde' told UNB.

Ange had been localised in Chittagong on 13, 18 and 21 January.

On 22 January he stayed in Khulna as two persons reported lately having met him, according to his friends.

The last email he sent reveals that his email (GPS position) was from Dhaka on 26 January.

The France embassy in Dhaka said it is aware of his missing and doing everything possible to find out where he is.

"But, so far we couldn't," a diplomat told UNB mentioning that some people said they saw him in Gazipur but nobody could find him.

Informed sources said this guy sometimes does not give any news to family for a while but it has been now almost three months that he is traceless and it is feared that something serious might have happened to him.

Ange was reportedly planning to join a friend in Malaysia through Myanmar or by boat from Chittagong, but he did not reach Malaysia.
