The High Court has cleared the way for independent candidate Hero Alam to take part in the 30 December national election, reports UNB.

The bench of justice Sheikh Hassan Arifand justice Razik-Al-Jalil issued the order on Monday after hearing separate appeal petitions filed by the actor.

Ashraful Alam, popularly known as Hero Alam, moved the court on Sunday challenging the EC's decision to cancel his nomination to contest the upcoming polls from the Bogura-4 constituency.

The returning officer rejected his nomination on 2 December as he could not submit the signatures of one per cent voters of his constituency.

Alam filed nomination as an independent candidate.
