The High Court on Tuesday stayed an expulsion order by the authorities of Sir John Wilson School in the capital that expelled two siblings from the school, reports news agency UNB.

The court also ordered the school authorities to allow the two students -- Maliha Muskan Ahmed and Maneu Ahmed -- to appear in the examinations and classes.

A two-member HC bench comprising justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice AKM Shahidul Huq passed the order after the hearing of a writ petition.

Advocate Habibul Islam Bhuyian and barrister Maniruzzaman Asad stood for the petitioner during the hearing.

According to the court sources, Minhaz Ahmed, father of the two students, went to the school on 10 March to bring his children home when a staff of the school sought comments from Minhaz about the annual sports competition.

Minhaz at that point expressed dissatisfaction over the tiny school ground, which the staff in turn asked him to convey to a project director of the school.

At one stage, a man indentifying himself as the project director started to talk with Minhaz over the issue, and Minhaz told him the school authorities should have kept a bigger ground. Subsequently the duo locked into an altercation.

Later, apparently taking out their anger at Minhaz on his children, the school authorities sent a letter to Minhaz saying his two children could not continue their studies in the school.

Following this, he filed a writ petition with the High Court on 24 March.
