I became CJ because of Bangabandhu: SK Sinha

Chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on Thursday said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman brought independence to Bangladesh and that’s why he could become the chief justice of the country.
“I recall the architect of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He brought us the dream and independence of Bangladesh. I don’t know who would become what, had the country not been independent. I would not be able to become the chief justice. Remote areas are now developed and I have become the chief justice as Bangabandhu brought us independence,” said SK Sinha.
He was speaking at a programme organised to lay the foundation stone of Moulvibazar Bar Association’s Building 1 in the district town.
District Bar Association president Ranjit Kumar Ghosh chaired the programme.
Addressing the lawyers, the chief justice said, “The yardstick of civilisation is showing respect for judges. Exercise restraint in your behaviour. Don’t boycott the court. If any misunderstanding crops up with judges, solve them through discussion.”
