Injured AL leader dies at Pangu hospital

A local Awami League leader, who was severely injured in an attack by his rival group on 2 November, died at Pangu Hospital in the capital on Thursday afternoon, reports UNB.

As the death news of Mehidi Mollah, 40, a union level AL leader, spread, his supporters swooped on the house of his rival Abdur Razzak Mollah, former chairman of Dhaneshwargati union and also an AL leader, and ransacked it.

They also looted and ransacked 29 other houses.

On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control, said Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shalikha police station, adding that a case was filed in this connection.

Earlier, on 2 November, some supporters of Abdur Razzak Mollah allegedly hacked Mehedi, leaving him injured critically following previous enmity over establishing supremacy at Gajdurba village in the upazila.

He was taken to Magura Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Pangu Hospital in Dhaka where he succumbed to his injuries.

Abdur Razzak Mollah along with family members went on hiding after his death.
