HT Imam, the political adviser to the prime minister, has said Islam was followed more obediently during the ruling of Awami League, particularly on Bangabandhu era.

HT Imam came up with the remark while addressing a programme organised by Democratic Islamic Unity Alliance at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Thursday.

The organisation also held recitation from the Qur'an and special prayers marking National Mourning Day timetable to be observed 15 August.

HT Imam said, "Bangabandhu established Islamic Foundation in Baitul Mukarram, national mosque of Bangladesh. He also formed Islamic Board. Islam during his rule was widely spread across the Bangladesh."

He also urged the organisers to shun anarchy what other Islamic parties are patronising. The organisation president Masudur Rahman chaired in the programme.
