The people of Kathgora Bazaar in Ashulia are still in fear 14 days after eight people were killed in an attack on a Bangladesh Commerce Bank branch on 21 April.

The shop owners and the traders of the area had no work to do as the people are still in fear to come to the place during weekly market days -- Monday and Friday.

Among the deceased, three people, including the manager of the bank, were shot dead inside the bank while four others were killed while trying to prevent the robbers. While they were trying to flee, one of the robbers was beaten to death by mob.

Seeking anonymity, a businessman said it will take some time for things to get normal again. However, arrest of the attackers is also vital.

Business transactions in Kathgora area are not as big as in Savar town or in Ashulia area, but it depends mainly on the workers of the readymade garments factories and stays crowded all day long.

The market, launched in 1984, expanded after 2000 when several RMG factories were setup in the area, said locals.
