Khaleda hosts iftar for professionals

Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday hosted an iftar party for the professionals and eminent personalities of the country.

The programme was held at Bashundhara International Convention Centre in the city.

Before the iftar, Khaleda exchanged greetings with the invited guests, including academicians, physicians, engineers, journalists, lawyers, and retired civil and military officials.

A munajat was offered seeking continued peace and prosperity of the country and the eternal peace of the departed souls of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and his younger son Arafat Rahman Koko.

Noted jurist Rafiqul Haque, ex-army chief Atiqur Rahamn, DU ex-VC professor Emajuddin Ahmed, ex-cabinet secretary Abdul Halim, former IGP Azizul Haq, News Today editor Reazuddin Ahmed, Sangram editor Abul Asad, Naya Diganta editor Alamgir Mohiuddin, Din Kal editor Rezowan Siddique, Manab Kantha editor Anis Alamgir, ex-DU professor Mahbub Ullah, former JU VC professor Mostahidur Rahman, ex-DU pro-VC Yusuf Haider, senior journalists Mahfuz Ullah, Shawkat Mahmud, MA Aziz, Khairuzzaman Mukul, Abdus Shahid, Syed Abdal Rahman, Kader Gani Chowdhury, senior lawyers Zainul Abedin, Mahbubuddin Khokon, Khorshed Alam, engineers' leader ANH Akhter Hossain, physicians' leader AZM Zahid Hossain, film director Gazi Mazharul Anwar and actor Ashrafuddin Ujjal, among others, attended the iftar.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Nazrul Islam Khan and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury were, among others, also present.
