Land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury on Thursday launched a hotline, accessed by dialing 16122 from any number in Bangladesh, to receive all kinds of complaints directly for eliminating the irregularities, ensuring transparency and accountability in land offices across the country.

“Our goal is to ensure maximum utilization of land and people-oriented services through transparent, efficient, modern, accountable and sustainable in land management. The Land Service-Hotline 16122 has been established to facilitate land services, legally resolve all complexities of service users and prevent all types of land corruption,” the minister said this at the inauguration of the hotline at CIRDAP auditorium in the capital.

The minister said that service receivers can easily get solutions to various land issues by calling 16122. Besides, service recipients will be able to learn about the existing land laws and regulations, along with essential information and suggestions regarding land services through the hotline, reports news agency UNB.

“Though we can’t solve it instantly as land case but complaint will get answer properly. All allegations will be recorded here.”

Land secretary Md Muksodur Rahman Patwary said that the Land Service-Hotline 16122, set up under the Sheikh Hasina Special Initiative ‘Digital Bangladesh,’ will remain open from 9:00am to 5:00pm every working day. Regular call charges will be applicable to get hotline services.

System analyst and deputy secretary of the land ministry Md Doulutuzzaman Khan demonstrated a presentation on the operating procedure of the hotline at the event.
