Life sentence for 9 in Manik Saha murder case

After over a decade, a court on Wednesday afternoon sentenced nine people to lifetime imprisonment in the murder case of journalist Manik Saha, former president of Khulna Press Club.
The verdict was announced by justice MA Rob Howlader at a speedy trial tribunal court in Khulna.
The accused have each been fined Tk 10, 000 or an additional year's imprisonment upon failure to pay
The verdict also announced the Explosive Substances Control Act to be filed in the same case. Ten who were accused in this case were missing from the court.
‘We will make our next move after receiving a copy of the verdict,’ said state prosecutor Enamul Haque.
Ekushey Award recipient Manik Saha was killed in a bomb attack only 50 yards away from the Khulna Press Club on 15 January 2004.
