Lutfur re-elected Tower Hamlets mayor

Bangladesh-origin Lutfur Rahman has been re-elected mayor of the London borough of Tower Hamlets for a second term in the election held on 22 May.

Rahman, formerly a member of the Labour Party but now under new party Tower Hamlets First, beat Labour's John Biggs by 37,395 votes to 34,143.

Lutfur is the only minority candidate elected in this year's mayoral election so far.
Lutfur was born in village Sikandarpur under Balaganj upazila of Sylhet.
