Minor girl ‘raped’ in Jashore

A nine-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a 53-year-old man at Colony Para in Sharsha upazila in Jashore on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The victim's father filed a case accusing Abdul Hamid Khandaker of rape, said Shukdeb Roy, officer-in-charge of Bagachra police camp.

Locals said the victim went to Hamid's house for playing in the afternoon. At one stage, he took the girl to his room and violated her.

Neighbours rushed in hearing the girl's scream and rescued her but Hamid managed to flee.

"We're trying to arrest the suspect," the OC said.
