Former Bangladesh ambassador to Vietnam Maroof Zaman, who went missing on 4 December, 2017, returned home on Friday night, said one of his daughters.

"After 15 and a half months, or 467 days... my father is back," Shabnam Zaman wrote in her Facebook wall, reports UNB.

She and her sister Samiha Zaman also expressed their profound gratitude to those who supported them during the period.

Shabnam also said they would now like to request privacy so that they can process and heal. "We've no further comment or detail to share at this time."

Maroof came out of their Dhanmondi residence around 6:30pm on 4 December, 2017 to bring her daughter from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

However, he neither went to the airport nor returned home.

Police recovered his private car which he was driving from the 300-foot Road in an abandoned condition.
