Business tycoon Moosa Bin Shamsher possesses wealth worth around Tk 100,000 crore, the Anti-Corruption Commission has said.

Moosa acknowledged the amount in his wealth statement filed before the ACC on Sunday by his lawyer, reliable sources in the ACC told Prothom Alo.

Sources said that Moosa had deposited $12 billion, equal to Tk 93,600 crore (considering each US dollar as Tk 78) in a Swiss Bank account.

Moosa has valuable ornaments worth around $90 million, equal to Tk 700 crore in the Swiss Bank vault while the businessman owns two houses in Dhaka's Baridhara and Gulshan and 1,200 bighas of land in Savar and Gazipur, according to Moosa's wealth statement.

"The commission will review the statement and his source of income and then go for further decision," ACC commissioner Md Shahabuddin told Prothom Alo.

On 19 May, the commission issued a notice to Moosa to file his wealth statement. ACC chairman M Bodiuzzaman approved the notice on 5 May.

Moosa, however, sought time until May 26 and finally filed the statement on Sunday.

International media including Business Asia revealed that Moosa has accumulated wealth worth about US $7 billion.

Considering the reports published in international media about Moosa's lifestyle, income and income sources, the ACC last year decided to launch a probe against Moosa, who is believed to have made his fortune selling arms during the Iran-Iraq war and through manpower business.
