My father killed thru ‘illegal verdict’: Hummam
Executed BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s son Hummam Quader Chowdhury on Sunday alleged his father was “killed through illegal verdict.”
At a post-burial press conference at their ancestral house, Baitul Billal, Hummam said, “The trial of this killing must be held one day.”
Salauddin’s younger brother Jamal Uddin Quader Chowdhury was also present at the media briefing around 11:00am as the formalities of the burial completed by 10:00am.
“An innocent person was killed through illegal verdict. The people of the country will call for the justice for this killing and the trial will, for sure, be held one day,” said Hummam.
Claiming that his father did not seek presidential clemency, Hummam said, “During our final meet with my father, he told us: ‘Your 6-foot-2-inch father can bow down to none.”
He said, “In one way, we are lucky that we have been able to bury our father with dignity whereas many in the country are not getting the bodies of their missing beloved ones given the way people are being killed and abducted in the country.”
Salauddin’s brother Jamal Uddin said, “He [Salauddin] said about the mercy: ‘I want mercy, but that is not from any mortal but the Almighty Allah.”
Nezam-e-Islami party’s joint secretary general Abdur Rahman Chowdhury and other relatives and well wishers were present at the press conference.
