New ambassadors assigned for Egypt, Germany, Portugal
The government has appointed Imtiaz Ahmed, currently Bangladesh ambassador to Portugal, as the country’s new ambassador to Germany.
Besides his ambassadorial appointments in Sweden, Nepal, Bhutan and Portugal, he also served in Bangladesh embassies in Rome, Cairo, Washington D.C. and Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur in various capacities in his diplomatic career, said the foreign ministry in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The government also appointed Muhammad Ali Sorcar, currently Bangladesh ambassador to Germany, as the new ambassador to Egypt.
Besides his ambassadorial assignments in the Netherlands and Germany, he also served as deputy permanent representative of Bangladesh to UN in New York and Bangladesh embassy in Brussels, the ministry media release said on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Md Ruhul Alam Siddique has been appointed Bangladesh’s next ambassador to Portugal.
He is currently working as director general (East Asia and Pacific Wing) at the foreign ministry in Dhaka.
In his career, he served as Minister in the Bangladesh High Commission, New Delhi, before his assignment as the deputy high commissioner of Bangladesh in Karachi. He also served in Bangladesh embassy in Berlin and Bangladesh high commission in Singapore in different capacities.
Earlier, he served in the ministry in different capacities in Europe, Americas and Pacific, UN, South Asia and administration wings, said an official release on Tuesday.
