A new muazzin has been appointed to the Bogra Shia mosque where an armed attack by unknown assailants killed the muazzin and injured three other devotees including the imam of the mosque on 26 November.
Following the appointment of the muazzin, regular prayers have resumed from the Zuhr prayer on Sunday after a two-day break.
Shortly after the gun attack in the mosque at the village Chakkanu of Shibganj upazila in Bogra, the law enforcers cordoned off the mosque and the scene of the incident inside the mosque.
The new muazzin, Ukil Mia, cleaned the mosque to prepare it for prayers.

Meanwhile, police set up a camp in the imambara, a shrine built by Shia Muslims for the purpose of Azadari, at the nearby Haripur village in close proximity of the mosque.
The chairman of Shia community’s local organisation Imamia Janakalyan Foundation, Abu Jafar Molla, said the attack inside the mosque was beyond their imagination.
“The people of the area are peace loving. We never thought that anyone could launch such an attack on devotees at prayer,” he added.
A local, Shahjahan Ali, said the people in the area remain in panic since the attack.
“Many people are in fear of arrest. Nobody knows who will be arrested and when,” he added.
