Noakhali medical college closed following student clash
Authorities on Tuesday afternoon shut down Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College (AMUMC) in Noakhali following sporadic clashes between two groups of students on the campus.
The students have been asked to vacate their dormitories by 2:00pm on Wednesday, reports UNB news agency.
AMUMC principal professor Moloy Kanti Chakrabarti said members of ‘Sandhani Club’ and ‘Medicine Club’ of the college locked into a clash on Sunday night over incorporating new students into their groups, leaving five students injured.
As a sequel of the incident, several chases and counter-chases took place between the two groups on Monday.
Later, the authorities closed the medical college for an indefinite period fearing further trouble, Moloy Kanti added.
