One held over ‘gang rape’ of housewife

Police on Friday night arrested a man for his alleged involvement in the gang rape of a housewife at Jadupur village in Chuadanga sadar upazila on Wednesday night, reports UNB.

The rape suspect was identified as Washim Ali, 30, of the area.

Police arrested one of the accused after the husband of the victim filed a case against two men on Friday night, said Lutful Kabir, officer-in-charge of Chuadanga sadar police station.

Police are trying to arrest the other accused, the OC said.

Police said Washim and his associate Milon forcefully took the housewife to a banana grove near her home and raped her there.

Family members rescued the victim and took her to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, police said.
