Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has refused to accept the proposal for naming Faridpur Medical College after her, said expatriate welfare and overseas employment minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Sunday.

“She (Hasina) politely said there’s no need to name (Faridpur) Medical College after her. So, the current name of the college will remain unchanged,” said Khandker Mosharraf while speaking at FMC management committee meeting on Sunday.

A proposal was placed at the FMC management committee meeting held on 19 May 2011 to rename the college after Sheikh Hasina.

Mentioning that patients are falling victims to harassment at the college hospital, Khandaker Mosharraf said he has asked the authorities concerned to free the hospital from brokers.

He also directed the Faridpur police super to take necessary steps in this regard.
