PM inaugurates Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday opened the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive to traffic, reports UNB.
The Bangladesh Army, under the supervision of Roads and Highways Department, constructed the 80-km marine drive for protecting the Cox’s Bazar seashore.
The project, involving Tk 456 crore, was implemented in three phases.
The work on the giant project, aimed at developing fast communication in the popular tourist zone, started in 1999, UNB said.
Earlier, the prime minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the operation of Boeing 737-800, a spacious aircraft, on the extended runway of Cox's Bazar International Airport in the morning.
Sheikh Hasina flew to Cox's Bazar by the same aircraft, which took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 9:20am and landed at Cox's Bazar airport at 9:50am.
