PM orders making Mymensingh a division

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina gave a directive on Monday to make Mymensingh the country's 8th division.

She also asked the officials concerned to examine the possibility of making Faridpur or Gopalganj another division by splitting further Dhaka division

The premier's directive came at the weekly cabinet meeting she presided over, at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

She also directed the officials to take steps, if deemed suitable, to declare Comilla or Noakhali another division by dividing Chittagong, cabinet secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told newsmen.

Mymensingh, which was earlier split into six districts, is now under Dhaka division.

The cabinet meeting approved the draft Tea Act-2015, and Tea Workers Welfare Act-2015.

The cabinet was briefed about the latest state of the socioeconomic development of the country.
