Parents look for son in front of Holey Artisan

During the attack on Holey Artisan Bakery in Gushan, the media published pictures of an injured young man who was being carried away by members of the the law enforcement agencies.
Seeing the footage, Mahmuda Begum and Abdus Sattar broke down into tears. They claim the man in the picture is their son, Zakir Hossain Shaon, who had been an assistant chef at Holey for the last one and half years.
The parents say their son has been missing since the attack. That is why they came to look for him with several other relatives in front of the bakery on Monday. They carried with them passport-sized photos of their son with them. Seeing them in tears in front of the bakery, some photojournalists showed them pictures from their cameras. There they found that the photos of the young injured man matched the passport sized photos of Shaon.
According to Shaon’s parents, they have gone to the Gulshan police station multiple times. They were told to look for their son at United Hospital, but they couldn’t find Shaon there. They waited at the police station till 1:30 am for some information on Shaon, but to no avail.
Mahmuda informed Prothom Alo that Zakir had called her the previous Thursday saying that he had received his Eid bonus. He was to come back home on Sunday to celebrate Eid with them.
The accounts department of the Bakery informed Prothom Alo that Shaon had been admitted to a hospital and that he would be returned to his parents soon.
In the attack on Holey Artisan bakery on Friday, militants shot and hacked 20 hostages to death. Among the dead, seven were Japanese citizens, nine were Italian citizens, one was Indian and three were Bangladeshi nationals.
Two police officers were also killed in the incident.
Police claims that six militants were killed in their raid and 13 hostages, including 10 Bangladeshi, two Sri Lankan and a Japanese citizen were rescued.
