Poet Belal Chowdhury in hospital

Poet Belal Chowdhury is now being treated for stomach complications at a city hospital according to his relatives.

Hospital authorities have formed a medical board to continue the treatment of Belal Chowdhury, said Abdullah Pratik, eldest son of the poet, quoting physicians.

“Doctors said father has an infection in his stomach. He is now out of danger but under observation,” Abdullah Pratik told Prothom Alo on Sunday.

“He can recognise all but can hardly talk,” Pratik added.

On Wednesday, Belal Chowdhury was admitted to the Anwar Khan Modern Hospital in the capital’s Dhanmondi after he started vomiting nonstop.

Belal Chowdhury emerged as a poet in the 1960s.
