President leaves Dhaka for Uruguay

President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday left Dhaka for Uruguay to attend the Uruguay’s Presidential Command Transfer Ceremony in Montevideo, reports UNB.

A VVIP flight of Emirates Airlines carrying the president and his entourage departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1:35am, according to Bangabhaban.

Abdul Hamid's wife Rashida Khanom and secretaries are accompanying him during the tour.

The president is scheduled to attend the Presidential Command Transfer Ceremony on 1 March when his Uruguayan counterpart Luis Lacalle Pou will take office.

He will later attend another programme in London to cap the trip.

President Hamid is expected to return home on 9 March.
