Pro-BNP female lawyer injured during scuffle with police
A female lawyer on Thursday was injured during a scuffle with law enforcers while pro-BNP lawyers were staging agitation in front of the High Court mazar gate area in Dhaka centring the verdict of a graft case against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, reports news agency UNB.
During the agitation, the scuffle ensued between female members of police and female pro-BNP lawyers around 10:00am.
Police forcibly pushed them to inside the mazar gate around 10:30am.
Moreover, police detained three BNP activists from Kakrail intersection around 11am.
Another BNP activist was held from near the High Court mazar gate area.
Leaders and activists of Chhatra League, student wing of ruling Awami League, riding on around 100/150 motorbikes, were seen staging a showdown in the High Court, Dhaka University campus, Shahbagh, Jatiya Press Club areas.
A court here is set to deliver its verdict on Thursday in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and five others.
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on 3 July 2008 with Ramna police station accusing Khaleda, her eldest son Tarique Rahman, who is now living in the UK, and four others of misappropriating over 2.10 crore that came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
