Quader denies responsibility of girl molestations by party men
Ruling Bangladesh Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said on Thursday the ruling party has no responsibility of the alleged molestation of girls on Dhaka streets by the party’s rally goers on Wednesday as the incidents took place outside the rally.
“We are not responsible for incidents that took place outside the rally. However, the government must have the responsibility of this,” said Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, while talking to journalists on the sidelines of a general meeting of the ruling party at party president’s Dhanmondi office in the capital.
Several girls alleged on various social media platforms that they were molested on Dhaka streets by the rally goers.
The ruling party organised the public rally to mark the historic 7 March where prime minister and AL president Sheikh Hasina gave her speech as the chief guest in which she spoke of “continuous development of the country”.
There was uproar on the social media about Facebook posts of several girls in which they alleged molestation by the ruling party rally goers.
Meanwhile, home minister Asaduzzaman Khan said that the law enforcers would carry out drives against those who allegedly molested the girls.
The home minister also said that they have received the video footage of the incidents.
“Drives are on to arrest the offenders. They will be brought to justice no matter what the political party they belong to. No one will be spared,” claimed the minister.
Asaduzzaman made the comment while talking to journalists after attending a programme at the CIRDAP Auditorium in the capital.
