No conflict between RAB and police: IGP
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), AKM Shahidul Hoque, said there is no conflict between the police and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and that they are part of the same “family”.
He made the comment at a press briefing following a views-exchange after the inauguration of a new barrack in the Range Reserve Force (RRF) police lines in Barisal on Friday morning.
The IGP said, “We are working together to stop terror and militancy in the country. Even if we have differing opinions, our intention is the same. RAB is an elite force. It is a unit of the police force. RAB and police are not separate entities. We are from the same family.”
The additional deputy inspector general of Barisal Range, Akram Hossain, Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) commissioner SM Ruhul Amin, Barisal police superintendent SM Aktaruzzaman, BMP additional commissioner Sayedur Rahman, BMP deputy commissioner (headquarters) Habibur Rahman, deputy commissioner Uttam Kumar Paul were also present at the meeting.
