Rangpur-3 by-polls on 5 Oct

The by-polls to the Rangpur-3 constituency that fell vacant following the death of Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad will be held on 5 October, reports UNB.

Election commission additional secretary Mokhlesur Rahman announced the election schedule at the EC secretariat on Sunday.

As per the schedule, the deadline for submission of nomination papers is 9 September while the date for scrutinising those is 11 September and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is 16 September.

The election will begin at 9 am and continue till 5 pm.

HM Ershad died on 14 July this year.

The EC has a constitutional obligation to complete the by-polls within 90 days after it fell vacant.

A total of 4,42,072 people are scheduled to exercise their franchise in the election. Of them, 2,21,310 are men and 2,20, 762 women.
