The families of Harkat-ul-Jihad leader Mufti Abdul Hannan and his associate Sharif Shahed Bipul have been asked to meet the death-row convicts at the Kashimpur High Security Jail.

The jail authorities sent the message to their relatives this (Tuesday) morning, said senior jail superintendent Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, adding that none of the relatives came till 12 noon.

Mufti Hannan and Sharif Shahed on Monday were informed of the rejection of their appeal for presidential clemency. Preparation for the execution of the death-row convicts have been completed while the executioner is also kept ready for his task, the senior jail superintendent said.

Hannan and his two associates were handed death penalty for launching a grenade attack on the then UK ambassador Anwar Chowdhury at Shahjalal Shrine in Sylhet in 2004.
