Revisiting budget figures since 1972
Bangladesh as an independent country began its annual budget with an outlay of Tk 786 crore in 1972 when the country’s first finance minister Tajuddin Ahmed placed that historic budget.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith announced the country’s 45th budget for the 2016-17 fiscal year in the parliament on Thursday (2 June, 2016) and it is his 10th budget spanning three tenures.
Late M Saifur Rahman still holds the highest record of authoring the national budget 12 times.
