Saraswati Puja celebrated

The Saraswati Puja was celebrated across the country on Saturday with traditional gaiety, religious festivity and spirit of pursuit of art and knowledge which Goddess Saraswati provides. 

The devotees of Hindu community assembled at the puja mandaps and sought blessings from the Goddess of Learning for education.
The celebration also included offering of Devi Aradhona, cultural functions and staging of dramas at temples, educational institutions and domestic residences in the country.
The puja mandaps and temples were decorated with light and colourful decorative stuffs in celebration of the festival and thousands of devotees sought blessings from the Goddess of Learning.
People of Hindu community of the country of all ages came to the puja venues with spouses and children in the early morning.
In the capital, Saraswati Puja was celebrated at Jagannath dormitory of Dhaka University, Dhakeswari Mandir, Ram Krishna Mission, Jaganntah University, Siddheswari temple, Supreme Court premises, Farashganj, Shakhari Bazar, Tanti Bazar and different places of Old Dhaka, Banani, Dhaka College, Eden Girls’ College, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Ram Krishna Mission and Math, Ramna Kali Mandir and Maa Anandamayi Ashram, Tejgaon College, Stamford University and different educational institutions in the city.
On Dhaka University campus, the puja was also organized at various student dormitories of Dhaka University.
Students from over 63 departments and institutes of the university arranged the puja at 70 mandaps on the Jagannath Hall playground this year. Every department of the university showed its own characteristics through their pendals and idols. They prepared pandals and idols on different metaphoric themes and ideas.
The main attraction of the dormitory puja was Fine Arts Faculty’s one, which took place at the centre of dormitory pond in front of the Upashanalaoy.
The height of the idol was 45 feet, symbolizing the 45 years of the country’s independence.
Jagannath Hall Provost Professor Asim Sarker told BSS that, huge number of people, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, assembled at the puja mandaps and sought blessings from the goddess of learning for better education, like every year.
Goddess Saraswati is the personification of knowledge, arts, science and crafts. She represents power, creativity and inspiration.
